ADAM LLOYD, FOUNDER
MSc, CERT CISN
Hello and welcome to Future Athletes!
I’m a registered Nutritional Therapist (mBANT) with a special interest in Integrative Sports Nutrition, focusing on youth athletes and team sports. I have supported 100’s of athletes to enhance their performance through focused sports nutrition. I’m currently taking the UKSCA accredited S&C Trainer course and am an experienced Level 3 Personal Trainer. I run youth athlete S&C group sessions as well as one-to-one services.
After several years of running my successful private practice, I undertook a Masters degree to further develop my expertise and graduated with an MSc in Nutritional Therapy from the University of Worcester in 2022.
My dissertation was entitled ‘Nutrition knowledge in professional academy football players: a cross sectional survey’. The findings demonstrated the gaps in knowledge and challenges that youth athletes face, which inspired the idea and passion behind FUTURE ATHLETES. The body of research into youth athlete nutrition shows that there is a need to support parents/guardians, athletes and coaches to provide better nutrition information and simple solutions to eating well to ultimately enhance health and performance.
As a dad of two elite youth footballers myself, I experience first hand the challenges that come with training schedules, travelling across the country for matches and the constant need to keep feeding them!
I’m also a graduate of the Centre for Integrative Sports Nutrition (CISN). This perspective on sports nutrition provides a fresh understanding about the synergy between health and performance for each individual. I take this approach into my private practice and into my role as Nutritionist for Cheltenham Town FC where I work with the academy players from age 9 to 18 in addition to supporting the first team on a one-to-one basis.
Alongside FUTURE ATHLETES, I work with sports clients of all ages, from amateur to elite to professional, at my private practice in Cheltenham.
When I’m not working, you’ll find me up in the Cotswolds hills walking or running with my border collie, making my signature chicken curry or on the touch line watching my boys!
